Waterford
The 4th of July has passed with the worst heat and humidity that we’ve seen this year. Glad few had to work, as the heat was a danger to many of us. We took in the breakfast at the Wilkins House and then David had to work at the yard sale at Mt Tirem lodge.
I did errands— we needed parts to fix our new water pump that wasn’t installed properly and leaked. Then I wandered toward the commons and took in the sales and events there. I was pleased to see old friends including Carol and Lynn and Scott and Chet and Marilyn. Then we got to watch the parade. I do not believe I ever stayed for it before because I had to work. This 4th being a Monday, I was free to do as I pleased.
We were pleased to celebrate the weekend with several cookouts with area friends. It is always nice to see friends in a non-work situation. We certainly had fun.
This coming weekend, is the Norway Arts Festival. This year. 2010, all of Main Street will be closed to traffic. Exhibiters will be all up and down the street, in the street this time and not just on sidewalks. Vehicles will need to go on side streets.
As usual, Poets on the Porch will hold a poetry reading in front of the Norway library. All poets are welcome. To sign up, go to Poets on the Porch.com., or just show up. Poets will read from 1 to 3 p.m.
Something has been attacking our chickens. It may be a fisher cat, a fox, a weasel, etc. We are hoping to find it and stop it. It has eaten four already. It is the first time. In previous years, we never had a problem.
Albany Church suppers are starting this week. The first is July 8 and then July 22, Aug. 5 Aug. 19 and Sept 2. They are at the Albany Congo Church.
This is all for this week. Stay cool and have a great week.
