Gilead Aug. 5
The humidity seems to have left us for a little while. The nights are cooler and sleeping is a lot better.
Progress on the removal of the old bridge over Wild River is coming right along. There were two sections removed when we drove by the other day. The traffic on the new road through town is flying right by.
Hugh and I attended the Countryfolk Music Theatre in Dixfield last Saturday. The theme was Old Prospector’s Day. Besides several groups playing country music throughout the day, there were mineral displays to look at. Larry Bisbee was in charge and made sure that everyone was having a great time. The money that they raise goes to youth music scholarships.
Norm Buttrick stopped at the house this past week to work on some paperwork for the Gilead Historical Society. He is applying for an archeology grant to do some work for the GHS.
My brother, Steve McLain, and “Tink” Conkright attended the bus conference at Sugarloaf last week. They spent the day going to classes that will help them with their jobs at the maintenance building for SAD 44.
