The January Thaw we have been experiencing sure felt good,huh? I wish it could stay this way for the rest of the Winter,yet that is mere wishful thinking.

Aline Dupont started her Spring semester on January 14th at the the University of Me. in Augusta to complete her RN degree.

This is a slow week for news again so, I decided to entertain you with some fun facts.Did you know that 11% of people are left handed, August has the highest percentage of births, the average person falls asleep in 7 minutes, a bear has 42 teeth, an ostrich's eye is bigger than it's brain, most lipsticks contain fish scales, lemons contain more sugar than strawberries and birds need gravity to swallow? Alder River Grange #145 held a regular meeting on Jan. 11 at Stan Howe’s home. There was a delicious noodle and chicken supper before the meeting.

Two applications to join the Grange were offered and were approved. We welcome Janet and Nick Bartlett to Alder River Grange.

The next meeting will be on Feb. 8 with a 6 p.m. supper and the meting at 7 p.m. at Stan Howe’s home on Broad Street. Sister Lynn will make baked potato soup.
