Hanover
The Annual Town Meeting for the Town of Hanover took place Tuesday, Oct. 20, at the Hanover Town House. The 23 voters attending elected Jim Barker as moderator while Brenda Lee B. Gross was elected to a three-year term as a select person. She has been chairperson of the Select Board for several years. Clem Worcester was elected to one-year terms as town clerk, tax collector and treasurer. All requested money amounts were passed as recommended. Before the town meeting citizens heard an explanation of Hanover’s relationship to Regional School Unit 10 and the budget formulating process from the Select Board and Superintendent Dr. Tom Ward from RSU 10.
Rumford Grange is having a Veterans Day dinner on Nov. 11, at the Grange Hall. The meal will consist of turkey with all the fixings. The cost is $8 for adults and $4 for children under 12. Veterans will get a free meal. Serving begins at noon and ends a 1:30 p.m.
Rumford Grange had a Halloween Party on Oct. 30. Ten children attended the party and got grab bags of goodies along with food and drink. There were two drawings for $10 prizes. The winners were Shawnee Worcester and Skie Braun.
As of late last week 14 deer had been tagged at the Inland Fish and Wildlife tagging station at Gordie Howe’s Store.
The staff at the Hanover Town Office is preparing the tax bills for this year. The same as last year, a 2 percent discount will be allowed if paid before Dec. 31.
Remember to license your dog. Licenses are due Dec. 31. Be sure to bring up-to-date rabies certificates and spay/neuter certificates to successfully complete the process.
