Another perfect week. The gardens are providing abundantly along with all the colorful flowers. The lawns are green with the little needed rain.
On Sunday, Aug. 22, Rodney Abbott will be the speaker at the West Sumner Universalist Church. The service starts at 11 a.m. followed by a coffee hour. All are welcome.
Lenwood "Pete" Andrews celebrated his 95th Birthday at Ledgeview Apartments on Tuesday. Many people came to congratulate him. Music was by Mr. Spur. Pete joined him with his base fiddle.
A large group gathered at the home of Ruth and Gordon Sherman for the 80th reunion of the Lamb clan now joined with the Smiths. A potluck luncheon was enjoyed by all. Cornor Sherman 3 years old was the youngest member present. The oldest and the one traveling the furtherst distance was Gerry Kenneally of Avon Park, Fla. The children played games. Jude Lamb, of Lamoine, the group's historian, explained the Lamb-Smith genealogy. She had made large charts which allowed all to see where they fit in with the many generations and branches. She told stories of her labors searching for the relatives. Others told their stories making for a pleasant informative afternoon. Jude has spent a lot of time in this research and has many hours to go .
I have attended a Lamb reunion every year since marrying into the family. So I have perfect attendance for 63 years.
For my part for the luncheon I made a large blueberry pie and a large blackberry pie.They both totally disappeared!
Elaine Blossom of North Branford, Conn., returned home on Monday after visiting with her sister, Jeanne Whittemore, for two weeks. She visited Cynthia Lamb at camp for two days and I took dinner with them on Tuesday. Elaine's daughter, Marsha Dunkle, come on Friday for the weekend to drive her mother home.
Muffin has had a more peaceful week for no workers were around making strange noises. Some entertainment has been provided by the two cats across the road for they like to look for mice in the back field.
