To the Editor:
If you are like me, you are giving away the bounty of this year's garden. What a blessing to have too much food! If only we could send it to the really poor and hungry. There is, however, a way we can help make a dent in fighting hunger.
The congregation of the West Parish Congregational Church would like to invite Bethel and the surrounding area to join us for the CROP Hunger Walk on Sept. 26 at 12:30 p.m. This is a community event, and we would welcome you to join us in this 5K/3-Mile walk around Bethel. This type of walk also takes place in many other towns across the country, and funds collected go through Church World Service to support projects in overseas and domestic projects of refugee assistance, self-help projects, advocacy and disaster relief 25 percent will help local agencies in their work serving people locally.
So, please mark your calendars and join us, either as a walker or a sponsor. You can donate that day or register online and gather sponsors at www.cropwalkonline.org. For additional information, contact the West Parish Congregational Church. It is good exercise, a chance to visit with friends and neighbors, and all for a good cause.
Hope to see you there! We can change the world one step at a time.
