The weather turned cold this past weekend so it seems more like fall.
My brother, Steve McLain, stopped by the house and dropped off some squash, tomatoes and cucumbers from his garden last weekend.
Lise McLain took her father, Gerard Dupont, to Gorham for his doctor’s appointment last week. They stopped at Mr. Pizza for lunch afterward.
Remember to stop by the yard sale at the Town Hall this weekend.
On Sunday morning, we heard several motorcycles coming into town from the North Road, and they went into the White Mountain National Forest Picnic Area for a break. Since there were about fifty of them, with a motorcycle with blue lights as their escort, we decided to check it out and see what was going on.
We spoke to Kathy DeLuca and she explained that they were participating in the Third Annual Arnold Dugmore Ride for MS. This was to honor her father, Arnold Dugmore, who died in a motorcycle accident in 2007, and to raise money for Multiple Sclerosis. Her husband, Dan, was diagnosed with MS in 2007.
They started from the Smilin’ Moose in South Paris and were riding up through Evans Notch, through Fryeburg, Brownfield, Bridgton and back to South Paris. Last year there were only nineteen participants. The riders were mostly from Maine, but there was one from Cape Cod, Mass. They were hoping that the rain would hold off until they returned to South Paris and joined in the events that were happening there to help raise money for this worthy cause. Each year the event increases in size and the amount of funds that they raise.
