The weather last weekend was great! It was perfect for getting out and doing something. We checked out the yard sale next door on Saturday and then headed to Bethel for the Barn Tour.
Linda Taylor, Alice Strait and Sharon Leighton held a yard sale this past weekend at the Town Hall. Linda's granddaughter, Morgan McLean, had a snack table where she sold cookies, apples, coffee and apple cider. She is raising money for her field trip to Boston. All 5th graders at Crescent Park School are raising money for the field trip in May. Alicia McLean, Morgan's mom, is a volunteer for the fundraising committee for the field trip. There are quite a few 5th graders in the Gilead community. Alicia suggests that if you would like to donate to the field trip, the 5th graders in your area are willing to rake leaves, stack wood, take out trash, or anything that you may need done. If you would like to donate to the Boston educational field trip you may call Alicia at 364-6082 (cell) and she can set you up with some 5th graders that could help.
My brother, Steve McLain, stopped by Saturday and went to the yard sale at the Town Hall. This was their last one for this year.
Our granddaughter, Sidney Chapman, spent last Saturday night with us. On Sunday, we had to go and see what she might find at the yard sale. She had some cider and cookies and found a couple of books to buy.
Lise McLain took her father, Gerard Dupont, to South Paris recently for a haircut. They stopped at Market Square Restaurant for lunch on their way back.
Hugh and I decided that since we had never done the Barn Tour that is sponsored by the Bethel Historical Society, we should check it out. The Foster barn in Newry was one that we had never been to and really wanted to see. We didn’t get to do them all, but we did get there and a few other ones. We also had never been to the Newry schoolhouse so stopped there also. It was quite interesting to see the inside and look at some of the materials they had on display. We ran into Clifton Jackson, who was there visiting with some of the other people who had stopped by. He went to Gould Academy with my brother, Steve McLain.
