James Irwin Roberts
James Irwin Roberts, 66, of Main Street, Fryeburg, died Tuesday, Aug. 17, 2010 at Bridgton Hospital, Bridgton, Maine.
He was born May 9, 1944 in Greenwood, Maine, the son of Wendell Fremont and Alice I. Felt Roberts. He graduated from Woodstock High School and worked at Ekco in Locke Mills and at Gould Academy in Bethel. He lived for a time in Bethel. James loved to hunt, fish and enjoyed traveling. He loved life and was fond of children.
James was a quiet, well-mannered man with a heart of gold and also very generous. He liked to care for the elderly and would give his shirt to help anyone in need. He attended church services held in his and Anne's home and did the work of an evangelist. He was a well-respected man of the community.
He is survived by his wife, Ann Mae Roberts of Fryeburg; three sisters, Elsie Seames and her husband Peter of Greenwood; Leona Cole of Greenwood, Marilyn Howe and her husband Wayne of Bryant Pond; three brothers, Duane Roberts of Greenwood, Carl Roberts of Danville, Maine, Leslie Roberts and his wife Georginna of Norway, Maine; two daughters, Katrina Marie Betancourt of Espanola, N.M., Kandie Lynn Roberts of Stratford, Mass.; a granddaughter, Brandie Nies of Stratford, Mass.; many nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his parents; four brothers, Albert, Kenneth, Philip and Stanley Roberts; and a sister, Florence.
