Vote for John Patrick
We have heard a lot this year about "problems" in the state pension system. Like you I wondered where those problems came from. After doing some research I was surprised to see that one name came up again and again. Republican candidate Sawin Millett.
While working for Governor McKernan back in the early 1990s, Millett was part of a plan to not only not pay what was really owed to Maine workers, but to take from what little was already set aside.
In his position as Commissioner of the Department of Administrative and Financial Services Millett was at the center of writing the budget and the decision to not meet the state's pension obligation.
Maine people found this looting so awful that in 1995 we passed an amendment to the Maine Constitution to make sure it never happens again.
So when you people trying to blame Maine's pension woes on workers, remember who was there.
I will remember and when I cast my ballot on Nov. 2 I will vote for someone that has a lifetime record of fighting for workers rights and workers benefits. I will cast my vote for John Patrick for state Senate on Nov. 2.
