Gilead

Snow, snow and more snow! It seems like every few days, there is a snowstorm. March is a long month, so there will be plenty more to deal with throughout the month, I suppose.

My brother, Steve McLain, has been busy with the rest of the crew at the MSAD 44 maintenance garage during the school vacation. They have been checking over the school buses and getting them ready for the return of students.

Robert Cross, the local CMP lineman, was in the area this past week. He had to replace some electric meters at a few houses. He checked with us before he turned the power off long enough to complete his task. He wanted to be sure that such things as a computer would not be affected. Nice to see him again and hear that he is a loyal reader of the column!

Hugh and I talked to our son, Chris, recently and at the end of this week, he should have gotten Kym moved from St. Cloud, MN. They will be settling into their new place in Omaha, Neb. This makes me think about children who live a great distance from Gilead, Maine. Chris lives away, but we are lucky enough to have our other son, Tim, and his family still nearby in Gorham, N.H. My brother and wife, Steve and Lise McLain, have their son and wife, Brad and Carole, nearby, but son, Joey, is way out in Montana. Even further away is their son, Stephen and his family, in the country of Norway. Thinking about this makes me want to say to all of them that they are missed and thought of very often and well wishes to them and their families.

After being ill for a couple of weeks, I am now feeling a little better and ready to go back to work. While I have been home, I have not been idle. The Annual Town Report is coming along quite nicely and will hopefully be done in a timely manner. Judy Perrille is helping with gathering information to be used in the report and learning what a process it is to put it together.

Gilead Historical Society

Mary Tyler stopped by the house last Saturday to do some paper work for the Gilead Historical Society, since she is currently the president. We checked in with Bob and Judy Bishop in Yarmouth this past weekend with some thoughts on upcoming events.
