A Project Opportunity Thank You
I have been the Chair of Project Opportunity, Inc. for a number of years now. Project Opportunity is a non-profit corporation founded and operated for the exclusive benefit of Telstar Regional High School students. Over the last few years, we’ve tried to be more visible and have encouraged you to contribute to our annual fund drive. We are now in the process of fund drive for this year, and I hope we can continue to count on the community’s growing response to our request.
As you may recall, each year Project Opportunity provides scholarship assistance at some level to each graduating student who applies for a scholarship and who actually attends an educational institution after Telstar. In addition to scholarship assistance, Project Opportunity also provides grant money to underclassmen who seek experiences outside of school that may inspire them to continue their educational pursuits after graduation. In a nutshell Project Opportunity provides financial assistance to Telstar students who aspire to and actually do continue their formal education after graduation.
I take this opportunity to send out a special thank you and expressly acknowledge two of the larger gifts we have received fairly this year. The first is from Jim Mann of Mt. Mann Jewelers located on Main Street. Jim does a fundraiser each year at Mollyockett Day and distributes the funds to local non-profit groups. This year Jim was kind enough to choose Project Opportunity as a worthy recipient. Please join me in extending to Jim a heart-felt thank you!
I also want to especially recognize Sunday River Skiway, which was a founder of Project Opportunity so many years ago. It has been a stalwart supporter of the work of the organization; and without Sunday River’s significant support each year since Project Opportunity’s inception, we would not have been able to provide the level of support we have to Telstar students. Again, I encourage the community to join the Board of Project Opportunity in thanking this civic-minded business for its kindness and generosity.
