By now, the election is over! Since it creates quite a bit of work for the Town Clerk, I am always glad to see it over with. There are still all the reports and updates that need to be filed with the Bureau of Elections afterward.
We had a call from Bob and Judy Bishop last weekend. She is doing much better and sounded quite like the person that we all know and care about.
My brother, Steve McLain, had a call from Judy Bishop, also. She wanted to let him know that they would not be able to make the Hunter’s Breakfast this year. They were in the area last year and were able to attend, but not this year. The Rec. Committee will be sponsoring the breakfast at Bog Brook Training Area on Nov. 13 from 5 thru 9 a.m.
Hugh and I went to Gorham, N.H., this past weekend to do some shopping in Wal-Mart. We ran into my cousin, Andrew McLain, and visited for a while and got caught up on family news. We also stopped by Tim and Michele’s house to see Sidney dressed up in her Halloween costume. She was excited about going out Trick or Treating.
The Rec Committee sponsored a Halloween Party last Saturday.
Steve and Lise McLain got an e-mail from their son, Stephen McLain, this past weekend. He sent some pictures of their children, Marina, Nathan, Quinn and Evan, all dressed up in their Halloween costumes.
Hugh and I decided to attend the Aya Despacho ceremony that Caro Poirier, MSW, LCSW, Certified Shamanic Practitioner, Full Mesa Carrier performed at the Lary South Cemetery in Gilead this past Saturday. She had called us recently and asked us some questions about Gilead. We had never attended a ceremony like this and decided that we should go and support her with this and her interest in Gilead. The description on her flyer was as follows: “Participation in this event reinforces unity as we prepare a natural offering to honor the land, mountains, waters and people who’ve gone before us, enhancing the sense of place with beauty and peace.”
There will be a Public Hearing on Tuesday, Nov. 9 at 7 p.m. at the Town Hall. The discussion will be to see if there is any interest in purchasing Cole’s Custom Auto building and land for town use.
