Due to the very temperamental and slow computer I have to use right now I could not finish my column last night. My frustration level was getting way too high, thus rather than it ending up in pieces in the dooryard I opted for writing this Tuesday morning -- are you laughing along with me right now? However, there are always two sides to everything and thus on the positive side I now can write more diverse news.
We need to wish Kasandra Haines, who celebrated her 20th birthday on Oct. 26, a belated Happy Birthday. In the meantime we can also welcome her baby girl, Meadow Anne, who greeted the world Oct. 30, weighing 7 pounds and 19 1/2 inches. Best wishes to the parents, Kasandra Haines and Dean Wilbur, and the grandparents.
Alder River Grange will have a "peel" party on Nov. 5 at 6 p.m., to do the potatoes up and whatever else needs doing. The Alder River Grange will have a public supper, turkey with all the fixings, on Nov. 6 at 5 p.m. adults will be $7 and under 12 will be $3 and Veterans will be free.
Aline Dupont, Jarrod Crockett's mom, was at the Republican Headquarters last Saturday from noon to 4 p.m. Ann Crockett was helping out last night again also. Jarrod is a very good man and hard working for the people of the District. So, let's hope that by the end of today we can congratulate him on his re-election.
Aline also had dinner at David's Bistro with Diane Howe, who had worked at the Rumford District Court that day.
Late last night I also was told that there is a male chocolate lab roaming the neighborhood. He is neither neutered nor sadly doesn't have even a collar. He is friendly with other dogs, yet shy of people. Is anyone missing their pet or someone who wants to give him a home in order to keep him saved?
I was asked by a reader if I could find out why the Casablanca no longer has the ad listing the movies in the paper. I couldn't find out the why, yet it seems it is just more of the signs of the times. They do have the automated phone listings and also can be found on the Internet. Guess we are slowly losing the human touch. Sorry that I could not be of more help.
I am pleased that folks called me at 824-3220 or e-mailed me at firstname.lastname@example.org for the various information and also concerning the Trivia. I have two correct answers so far and was also asked for a clue. So, here it is: "It happened on the East Bethel Road and several young lads were present." Hope this helps as I already heard from two of them.
Hope you all went out to vote.
