REMEMBERING GLORIA SNYDER
The recent death of Gloria Snyder brings back memories of a devoted mother and wife who possessed a good sense of humor. She also was very interested in local history and genealogy. Gloria spent many hours at the Bethel Historical Society working on her family history and served for a time as a research volunteer in the society’s library. Through the years, I came to know her and her late husband, Ron, well, and appreciate their strong devotion to their family and the community.
For years on Molly Ockett Day, Gloria and Ron could be found on my front lawn ready to watch the annual fireworks. During that time, we often exchanged various stories about local characters and laughed a lot as we recalled our numerous memories of the past.
Molly Ockett Day has never been the same since Ron died several years ago, and with Gloria’s passing this year, the finality of the end of an era will be more marked than ever.
