4-H MEMORIES SOUGHT
The Bethel Historical Society and Alder River Grange are seeking memories, photos, and other items relating to the 4-H Club, which this year is observing its centenary in Maine. Since 1913, the 4-H movement has touched the lives of thousands of young people throughout the State. 4-H members learned many skills and enjoyed numerous hours of involvement while working on their various projects from raising field crops and livestock, to woodworking, baking and sewing among many other activities. Countless 4-H activities took place in homes, barns, Grange halls, and other public buildings throughout Maine.
A number of us are attempting to collect memories and historical items relating to 4-H. From this effort, a powerpoint presentation can be produced, which may be shown at Alder River Grange as well as other locations. It is also hoped that former 4-H Club members may be identified to participate in a panel discussion of their memories and experiences.
Please call James Haines (824-2828)or me (824-2291) to let us know if you have memories or items that can be recorded or scanned for the historical record. We look forward to hearing from you.
