PITCH, HIT AND RUN
A free baseball/softball skills program – “PITCH-HIT & RUN” – will be held at Telstar on Saturday, May 4, at 10 a.m. (rain date Sunday 5/5). This national skills program provides boys and girls, ages 7-14, the opportunity to showcase their pitching, hitting and running abilities. Boys and girls compete separately in four age groups 7-8, 9-10, 11-12, 13-14 (age is determined as of July 17).
Participants will have the opportunity to advance through four levels of competition and compete at the National Finals at the 2013 MLB All-Star Game! Pitching will focus on the accuracy of throwing strikes to a specified target. Girls will use softballs; boys, baseballs. Hitting will test the ability to hit from a batting tee straight toward center field measured for both accuracy and distance. Running measures their speed from a set distance beyond third base and touching home.
This is a first-year event organized by the Bethel Rec Board and will certainly provide a fun morning for any interested child whether or not he or she plays baseball or softball. This event is FREE of charge. Additional information can be found at www.mlb.com/phr. Pre-registration is encouraged via the web at http://tinyurl.com/phrbethel
