Cecil R. Wentzell
Cecil Rodney Wentzell died peacefully on April 6, 2013, with his daughter and son by his bedside. He was born August 10, 1921, the son of Stan and Millie Wentzell of Bethel.
He grew up in Bethel, graduating from Gould Academy in 1931. He married a classmate, June Little, on June 20, 1942. She predeceased him.
Rodney was drafted in 1942, and after basic training he spent 32 months overseas, beginning in North Africa, Italy, France, Germany and Belgium. Following his discharge, he graduated from Bentley School of Accounting (now Bentley University), Boston.
He was hired by General Electric Co., and he worked for years as a traveling auditor for IGE.
In 1974, he accepted a Treasurer position with Nashua Corp. in Nashua, N.H. He retired in 1984.
Rodney is survived by a daughter, Melinda Kornblum, of Phoenix, Az; a son, Stephen Wentzell, of Wilmington, Del.; three grandchildren, Ali Rose Kornblum, Emily Wentzell, and Joshua Wentzell; a sister, Mary Eichel; and several nieces and nephews.
