High School Girls’ Varsity Softball
Telstar 14, Carrabec 2; May 1 – Telstar’s softball team raised their record to 5-0 with a win over Carrabec on Wednesday. Jessica Dirago threw a 2-hitter and struck out 11 Cobras to lead the Rebels. Rachael Wheeler, Ellie Conrad, Becca Howard, and Autumn Berry each drove in two runs to pace the Rebel offense. Rachael and Ellie had 2 hits apiece. Rachael and Maisey Griffin scored three runs each in the game. The defense played well led by Autumn Morin’s double play to end to fourth inning. Good game, ladies. – Coach Jim Lunney.
Telstar 12, Boothbay 0; May 3 – Jessica Dirago threw her second no-hitter of the season on Friday as the Rebels defeated Boothbay. Taylor Savage, Sadie Ellsworth, Jessica, and Rachael Wheeler each scored two runs for the home team Rachael had a triple in the fourth inning and Jessica had two hits, including a bases loaded double, that ended the game by the 12-run rule. The Rebels are now 6-0 on the season. Good games, ladies. – Coach Jim Lunney.
Telstar 3, Mt. Valley 6; May 6 – The Telstar softball team suffered their first loss of the season on Monday, losing to Mt. Valley. Autumn Morin with 2 hits paced the Rebel offense, with Jen Wakefield, Kelsey Averill, and Ellie Conrad on the hit list. But, the defense was shaky as the Falcons took advantage of walks and errors to score 3 unearned runs in the second inning. The Rebels battled back to tie the score, but were unable to generate much offense in the late innings. Jessica Dirago struck out 11 for the game. Telstar is now 6-1 on the season. – Coach Jim Lunney.
High School Girls’ JV Softball
Telstar 19, Mt. Abram 4; April 30 – The Lady Rebels bounced back from Monday’s game to defeat Mt. Abram at home in a 5-inning game. Olivia York went the distance scattering only 2 hits, allowing the 4 runs, and 8 strikeouts. She continues to do a great job in her transition to HS ball. Repeat hitters for the Rebels were Maddie Prentice and Olivia York; big doubles each for Aislinn Forbes, Vanessa Godwin, and Becca Howard; and singles from Bri Vitale, Jillian DeLallo, Blair Stevens, and Lisa Gammon. Middle School Girls’ Varsity Softball
Telstar 6, Spruce Mountain 7; April 30 – The Telstar Middle School girls’ softball opened their season with a tough fought battle against Spruce Mountain and lost. Telstar had an early 2-0 lead with back-to-back triples from Shelby Cowin and Morgan Prentice with both runners scoring. The game remained at that score until Spruce Mountain broke it open with 7 runs in the fifth. The Lady Rebels responded with runs in each inning from the fifth through the seventh, leaving the tying run at third base in the bottom of the seventh. Ladies with hits were Shelby Cowin, Morgan Prentice, and Kim Drew. The ladies remained calm and did not give up until the last out of the game. Great battle, ladies! – Coach Mary Merrill.
Telstar 13, Buckfield 3; May 3 – The Telstar Middle School girls’ softball team defeated Buckfield in five innings. Leading the Lady Rebels on offense was Morgan Prentice with 3 triples and 4 runs. Other Rebels with hits for the day were Shelby Cowin, Wynter Morin, Tehya Johnson, and Josie Forbes. Tehya Johnson went the distance on the mound for the win, striking out 11. Josie Forbes made the defensive play of the game in the right field with a great running catch. Great job, ladies! – Coach Mary Merrill.
Middle School Girls’ JV Softball
Telstar 18, Spruce Mountain 8; May 1 – The TMS JV Softball team won their season opener against Spruce Mountain. Erin Childs did an awesome job on the mound. Morgan Prentice had a homerun for the Rebels. Repeat hitters were Erin Childs and Victoria Hamel. Great defense was played by all. “I was very proud of how they all played as a team. Way to go, Rebels.” – Coach Linda Cozzolino.
Telstar 23, Mt. Valley 19; May 6 – The TMS JV team defeated Mountain Valley. Erin Childs did a great job on the mound with 10 strikeouts. Josie Forbes did a great job behind the plate. Repeat hitters for the Rebels were Madison Roberts with a triple and a double, Erin Childs with 3 singles, and Sadie Richardson with 2 singles. The defense was awesome. Great playing by all. Telstar 2, Carrabec 12; May 1 – The Varsity baseball team dropped its fifth consecutive game of the season at Carrabec Wednesday. Eight team errors let in 10 runs for the Cobras. Cole Davis paced the Rebel hitters with 2 singles. – Coach Bob Remington.
Telstar 1, Mt. Valley 13; May 6 – The varsity baseball team suffered a loss at Mt. Valley yesterday. Under the strong pitching of Logan Bartlett, the Rebels were leading 1-0 going into the bottom of the third inning before errors allowed 4 unearned runs, and sent the Falcons on their way to victory. Rebel hitters collected 4 singles by Hunter Chase, Travis Jackson, Colton Godwin, and Buddy Williamson.
Middle School Boys’ Varsity Baseball
Telstar 5, Spruce Mountain 3; May 1 – The Telstar Middle School Varsity baseball team started the season with a victory on a beautiful, sunny day at Crescent Park School. Marcus Wentworth pitched the whole game with 5 strikeouts and only gave up 5 hits. Josh Eliot led the team with 2 singles. Tanner Wheeler and Russell Cushman added a hit each. Telstar 18, Buckfield 2; May 3 – The Telstar Middle School varsity baseball team defeated Buckfield in a league match-up on Friday. Josh Eliot pitched the first 4 innings, striking out 8 and not giving up any hits. Tanner Wheeler came into the last inning to strike out the side. Marcus Wentworth led the team in hits with two singles and a double. Duncan Forbes, Tanner Wheeler, Jarrett Bean, and Russell Cushman all had two hits each. Meet at Telstar, May 1 – Mt. Valley 165.5, Telstar 80, Dirigo 67, Spruce Mountain 64, St. Dominic 46, Buckfield 11.5. The Telstar Middle School Track team had a successful start to their season. The girls came in second behind Mt. Valley. India Orino, Alice Pelletier, Sioux Tuttle, and Caitlin Haines took first in the 4 X 200 Relay. Major contributions came from Katie Turnick, India Orino, Caitlin Haines, Bailey Daniels, Ali Turnick, and Alice Pelletier. – Coach Steve Pelletier.

Middle School Boys’ Track
Meet at Telstar, May 1 – Telstar 155, Mt. Valley 154, Dirigo 52, Spruce Mountain 41, Buckfield 12, St. Dominic 9. The Telstar Middle School track team had a successful start to their season. The boys were led by Avry Griffin, first in 55m hurdles, triple jump, and long jump, and second in 4 X 200 Relay. Matthew Bennett, first in 1600m and 800m and second in 4 X 200 Relay and High Jump. Gunner Fournier and Elijah Mason had a combined 22 points in Javelin, Discus, and Shot Put. Major contributions came from Kellen True and Alex Duclos in the sprinting events. – Coach Steve Pelletier.
