It is June and the summer solstice will be here before we know it. Then, the Full Moon in June, also known as the Strawberry Moon. Guess that means the strawberries will be in, too. Can’t wait to pick berries. Still eating last year’s blackberries. They go great in my breakfast smoothies.
Made some headway in planting our garden today. The sun and heat at midday was almost too much for me, but it was much better than this weekend. My car’s air conditioner is broken and that makes it hot when it is 90 degrees out. Never thought I’d use an air conditioner, but what did I know. When it gets that hot that quickly, it is hard to take. One day it is 40 and there is frost, and almost overnight it is 90. Too hard on the body.
Last Friday, May 31, there was a farewell party or should I say Retirement Party for Polly Davis. At 85, Polly is leaving the Citizen for a life of leisure. All of the columnists that could attended. It was fun. Most of us never get to see each other. Polly has been our only connection. I know she will be back and editing our work. Good luck to you, Polly.
Sunday, June 9, Mountain Poets Society will meet from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Fare Share Commons on Main Street in Norway. All poets and poetry lovers are invited. FMI please call 743-9808 or 739-9115.
That is all for this week. Students will be out soon, so be careful for bike riders, etc. If anyone has anything they would like to see in this column, please contact me at 739-9115.
