The Upton Ladies Aid driveway is sporting a new and improved culvert. The Ladies wish to thank Steve Swasey, John Martin, Ken Gibbons, Deborah Judkins, and the Town of Upton for their contributions. The Ladies Aid will serve breakfast on Father’s Day, Sunday, June 16.
The Letter B Notch Riders will meet Sunday, June 9, 9 a.m., at the Route 26 end of North Road in Grafton. After the meeting, the members will disperse to clean up trash and debris along the trails and roads of their trail system. Please join us in our effort to keep the trails clean and maintain a good relationship with the landowners. Bring lots of bug repellant and remember that you will have trash bags on your machine and you will need a way to keep the bags on your racks. Upton town roads are permitted access routes and they will need roadside cleanup, also.
I have been told that the townspeople of Rangeley vetoed having a wildlife refuge in their area. If this is true, my personal congratulations to them for having the foresight to understand the damage that a refuge does to a small town's economy and lifestyle.
Town meeting is scheduled for Thursday, June 27, 7 p.m., at the school.
Terry and Matt, guests of the Upton House this past weekend, caught some lovely rainbow trout. They shared the trout and some recipes with Charlotte and Bob. They did not share the location of their fishing spot.
The severe thunderstorms last Sunday blew down 12 large trees on Ellie LeComte's property. She was a little nervous during the storms.
Congratulations to Jessica Casey. She is the class of 2013 salutatorian for Telstar Regional High School.
