Remembering Sam Chapman
To the Editor:
Our family came to know and love Sam in the 1980s when he performed at DW McKeens when we owned it, which is now White Cap Lodge at Sunday River. Our daughter, Litty Parker, managed the restaurant and bar and Sam preformed there many nights. One of our favorite songs he wrote was "The Life of Riley!"
We also hosted a business Christmas party at the Eastland Hotel in Portland and Sam and his band, including Jewel Clark, played the night away, everyone was on the dance floor from start to finish! Our guests thought we had imported a band from Boston! They rocked the house and it was a night to remember for sure!
We also remember him with his dad and brothers golfing late in the afternoon at the Bethel Inn after work, always with a big smile and a powerful striking swing!
He was part of the wonderful Bethel community, and contributed to it in so many kind, musical and thoughtful ways.
We send our sympathy to his entire family and friends. He will be missed, but never forgotten.
The family of the late Gerry Parker,
Carol, Litty, Phil and Julia Parker
