Feeding the hungry
To the Editor:
I’m excited about the upcoming community potluck this Friday, Aug. 23 at 6 p.m. at West Parish Congregational Church, “Feeding the Hungry – locally and globally.”
The Local Food Connection will share information on local gardening efforts. Brian Lenberg will talk about the 4-H garden. Information about Harvest for Hunger in Rumford will be shared. Melody Bonema will talk about the Emergency Food Packs, which provide 3 days of food for a family of four. David Bean will talk about the Bethel Food Pantry. Audrey Brooke from the Bethel Alliance will talk about their community garden and the monthly free community supper the fourth Wednesday of every month.
This is a kick-off for the CROP Walk (Communities Respond to Overcome Poverty), which supports the work of Church World Service, scheduled for Oct. 6 in Bethel. Seventy-five percent of the money raised on the walk supports the work of Church World Service. Twenty-five percent stays local and fights hunger in the Bethel area, going to the Bethel Food Pantry.
Bring a dish to share and canned goods or paper goods as a donation to the Bethel Food Pantry.
