High School Girls’ Varsity Field Hockey
Telstar 1, Dirigo 0; Sept. 9 – Keeper Hali Barter made 11 saves for the Rebels to earn her first shut out of the season. Telstar's goal came in the second half when Becca Howard lifted the ball over a downed Dirigo keeper for the score. Mariha Morin and Sadie Ellsworth led many key plays down the field for the team.
High School Girl’s JV Field Hockey
Dirigo 5, Telstar 0; Sept. 6 – The JV field hockey team opened their regular season with a loss to Dirigo. Midfielders Ellie Conrad, Savannah Vermette, and Wynter Morin worked hard to get the ball down the field. Morin did a great job getting back on defense. Good defensive clears were made by Ellis Coffin and Taylor Merrill. Blair Stevens and Meg Glover shared time in the cage, making a total of 19 saves.
Lisbon 4, Telstar 1; Sept. 9 – The JV field hockey team played against a very fast Lisbon team, losing the battle 4-1. The Rebels worked hard and had a lot of great breaks down the field, led by center forward Natasha Hart. Forward Savannah Laird scored Telstar's only goal in the second half on a feed from Savannah Vermette. Excellent defensive work was given by Mackenzie Bragg, Becca Miller, and Kirstie Haas.
High School Football
Oak Hill 52, Telstar 29; Sept. 7 – The Telstar Rebels opened their 3rd varsity season at home on Saturday vs. the Oak Hill Raiders. Oak Hill, projected to be a conference powerhouse, had their way with the Rebels early in the game and got out to a quick 16-0 lead. The Rebels fought back and returned a blocked punt to the one yard line, where QB Jared Vermette would sneak the ball in for a touchdown on the ensuing play. This however was about the extent of the Rebels early success, and they would not get back on track until the second half. Oak Hill on the other hand piled on a large lead at the end of the first half and they didn't look back. Telstar kept fighting and had some success moving the ball in the 3rd and 4th quarters. RB Austin Ryerson ran for 2 scores and QB Jared Vermette scrambled for an 86 yard touchdown to cap the scoring. They both also ran for over 100 yards. Newcomer Mohammed Alzubaidi had success kicking and punting the football and Telstar's leading tackler was LB Tyler Cherkis.
High School Boys’ Varsity Soccer
Telstar 4, Oak Hill 1; Sept. 7 – The Rebel boys’ soccer team got off to a great start Saturday by defeating the Raiders of Oak Hill. The Rebels had complete control of the ball for the first 13 minutes of the game, but could not put the ball in the net until Nick Conrad scored on a penalty kick. The Rebels continued to dominate possession of the ball and Conrad was able to put another goal on the board. Eric Lowell scored the third goal of the half after receiving a great pass from Maverick Griffin. The Rebels continued to pressure the Raiders during the second half. They scored for a fourth time when Hakan Chartier put it in the net after following a shot on goal by Avry Griffin. The Raiders finally broke up the shutout when they were able to break through the middle of the Rebel defense and score. “We looked really good, especially during the first half of the game. The guys have been working hard on ball skills, passing, moving, working together, and winning the ball. Their efforts paid off. I am proud of how we played, but we have a long season in front of us and the games will get tougher. This was an exciting game with many positive moments.” – Coach Eliot

Dirigo 7, Telstar 0; Sept. 3 – The Telstar golf team lost to Dirigo on Tuesday. Reggie Westleigh and Kyle Marriot lost close matches as the Rebels opened their season at home. Telstar is 0-1 on the season. – Coach Jim Lunney
Wiscasset 7, Telstar 0; Sept. 6 – Telstar's golf team lost to a strong Wiscasset team on Friday. Reggie Westleigh and Hunter Williamson lost close matches and each improved from their first match scores. Josh Eliot also showed improvement in his scoring. Nancy Huston and John Walker lost to a strong pair of golfers. The team is now 0-2 on the season. – Coach Jim Lunney
Telstar 5 ½, Spruce Mountain 1 ½; Sept. 9 – Telstar’s golf team won their first match of the season by defeating Spruce Mountain. Reggie Westleigh, Josh Eliot and Ryan Bennett won their matches and Kyle Marriott tied his match. Hunter Williamson lost a close match 1-down. Reggie Westleigh was the medalist with a 53. Telstar is now 1-2 on the season. – Coach Jim Lunney
