Judith Grover Tent 17 DUVCW met at the Grange hall on Monday, Sept. 9 for a regular meeting. Nine members were present. Final plans were made for Dept. President Elsie Bonney’s reception. The reception will be Saturday, Sept. 21 at the Grange Hall from 2 to 4 p.m. A request for a donation was tabled. Next meeting is Oct. 14 and candy for the Veterans’ Home is to be brought to this meeting. Calls reported were 27. Amanda Ames received the mystery package. Vicky told of her trip to Gettysburg and read an item that happened on this date in history. A thank you note was received from Leatrice Chase for the Sunshine Box.
Services at the Baptist Church are Sunday School at 9:15, Morning Worship at 10:30, Evening Service at 6 p.m. Wednesday evening at 6:30 is Prayer Meeting. Eight young people were baptized on Sunday evening, after which an ice cream social was enjoyed.
I am sorry to hear of the death of Evelyn T. Bean, a longtime resident of Bryant Pond.
The firemen will hold their 3rd Annual Parade of Lights Saturday, Oct. 5 at 7 p.m. The parade will start on Lakeside Drive next to the ball field and go through town to the Fire Station. Free refreshments following the parade.
The Bethel Senior Citizens have invited the Woodstock-Greenwood Senior Citizens to join them on a trip to Cabot Farm in Vermont on Sept. 26.
