Elsie H. Sullivan
Elsie H. Sullivan, 98, of 70 Woodland Road, Madison, Conn. and Salem, Conn., beloved wife of the late Richard D. Sullivan, Sr. and oldest son, Richard D. Sullivan, Jr. died Sept. 5, 2013 at Connecticut Hospice, Branford. Elsie was born Sept. 26, 1914 in Branford, Conn., daughter of the late Johannes and Hilda Mattson. She is survived by three children, Irene (Thomas) Eagan of Cheshire, Conn.; Linda (Neil) Olson of Bethel; Gary (Diane) Sullivan of North Branford, Conn. and a daughter-in-law, Eleanor Sullivan of Florida and Salem, Conn. She also leaves eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. She was predeceased by two brothers and two sisters.
Elsie was a dedicated mother, wife and grandmother. She was an exceptional seamstress. Her greatest joy was sewing for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, creating curtains to baby doll clothes, outfits, christening dresses and a wedding gown. She worked at Homemaker’s Corner for several years. Her demeanor in life set a great example on how to live life; “Everyone dies, but not everyone lives.” Elsie lived a full, long loving life.
Funeral services were held at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 10 in the Tabor Lutheran Church, Branford, Conn.
