It is Monday and they are predicting hard frost tonight here in the foothills. That means it is time to harvest any plants that aren’t frost hardy. For us, that is already done for the most part. Actually, I mostly grow frost hardy plants anyway. I love broccoli, Brussels sprouts, kale, etc. Of course, I also love corn on the cob and that is not frost hardy, but that’s how it goes. We have moved a few plants into the greenhouse for longer growing season, but Gertrude and Lefty don’t like that because we close the door to keep the warmth in and the cold out. They prefer to hang in the green house and play. They will adapt. Of course, that won’t last long, anyway because even with the greenhouse, the season doesn’t last forever.
Even though they are mad they were closed out of the greenhouse, Lefty and Gertrude continue to be cute as all get out. They play all day except when they are sleeping in the old dog house out behind the garden or in the new doghouse that is currently Gertrude’s sleeping quarters and will soon be both their house when the leaves leave the trees and Lefty can no longer roost in the tree. We will see how good they do sleeping in the doghouse all night until we let them out in the morning.
