Walter Cusack, 63, beloved husband of Valentina Tyrina, passed away peacefully at The Hospice House in Auburn on Sept. 17. Wally, as he was known to his family, was born in Cambridge, Mass. on Nov. 3, 1949, the son of Walter and Dorothy Cusack now of East Kingston, N.H. He was a graduate of Boston English High School and a Veteran of the U.S. Navy.
Walter earned his Microsoft certification and worked in the computer industry for many years. But his favorite job was his part time job, teaching skiing at Sunday River. He was a member of the Professional Ski Instructors of America for 20 years having proudly earned his PSIA-AASI Alpine Level 3 credential. An avid Red Sox fan, Walter loved spending time at his home on Indian Pond and spending time with his family and friends, especially when it involved skiing. And he was always willing to help out family and friends with their computer issues.
In addition to his wife Valentina, survivors include: daughters and sons-in-law Jenna Cusack Motsis and Nick Motsis and Shana Cusack Maloney and Tim Maloney, grand-daughters Aria Motsis and Phiona Maloney, step daughter Anna Tyrina, parents Walter and Dorothy Cusack, brother and sister-in-law Kenneth Cusack and Maureen Cusack, sisters and brothers-in-law Karen Cusack Jordan and Michael Jordan and Cheryl Cusack Iller and Kenneth Iller, and former wives Denise (Deni) Howley and Deborah Cusack.
Family and friends will be notified of a Celebration of Life Ceremony to be planned for a future date. In lieu of flowers, please consider a gift to the newly-created Walter Cusack Memorial Education Fund, which will be used to help support the attendance of Sunday River Perfect Turn staff at PSIA and AASI events and tryouts. Gifts can be sent to Elizabeth Limerick (treasurer and fundraiser), 166 Pleasant Ave 4, Portland, Maine 04103. Donations in his memory can also be made to Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice located on 236 Stetson Road, Auburn, Maine 04210, where Walter spent his last days.
