Talk on the Maine woods
To the Editor:
On Sunday evening, Oct. 20, at 7 p.m., the Mahoosuc Land Trust will hold our 24th Annual Meeting in the Ordway Living Room of Ordway Hall at Gould Academy.
Our speaker will be Professor Andrew Barton of U Maine Farmington. His new book “The Changing Nature of the Maine Woods” has recently been awarded the John Cole Award for Best Maine Non-fiction. Drew will talk about our Maine woods and how they have evolved over the millennia and how they might possibly continue to change as our human world impacts them in many different ways. Dr. Barton has a reputation among UMF students as an engaging presenter.
The Land Trust board welcomes all members to this meeting. The public is also invited for a $5 charge. There will be a short business meeting at the beginning, including a celebration of the Crow Mountain easement from Betty Werner of Shelburne. Refreshments will be served.
Please come and celebrate with us.
President of the Mahoosuc Land Trust Board
