Things are quiet in Hanover. Folks are decorating for Christmas and at night there are lots of pretty lights to see. Others are off on great shopping sprees searching for the gifts that will be enjoyed by favored recipients. Down the road they go at inflated gas prices to Oxford, Berlin, Auburn and Lewiston, Farmington, Freeport, Portland and beyond. Still others are shopping on the Internet for good sounding deals with high shipping charges.
It was cold for sure last week! Day upon day went by without the thermometer reaching 20 degrees. Howard Pond froze over (stay off the ice as it is not strong enough yet) and much of the Androscoggin River froze when temperatures dropped to zero or below. Last Sunday it snowed much of the day before changing to rain creating a very sloppy mess.
Are you looking for the just right last-minute holiday gift? The 2011 hunting and fishing licenses are now available at the Hanover Town Office. While there don’t forget your best friend needs a dog license before Dec . 31. The office staff hates to charge the $25 late fee.
