Tower of Ice Seems Folly
As an out-of-towner, I find Bethel such an inviting, attractive town that I can't fathom why the Chamber of Commerce thinks a tall tower of ice could add anything to its already charming ambiance.
I'm sure there are wise and creative people in the chamber, so why in the world aren't they using their creativity and talent to imagine something that has lasting beauty and usefulness to the community?
Just think what they could create for the town with all that energy and talent the chamber has been able to inspire in past endeavors! Something that won't be wasteful of precious resources and won't disappear with an unseasonal rain or thaw.
However wasteful of time, resources and energy Angus Snowman may have been, he was at least a novelty. That sense of novelty no longer exists. Building a tower of ice seems nothing but folly to me -- and probably I'm not alone.
