Future of District Exchange
We would like to remind readers that there will be a meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 2, at 6 p.m. at the Telstar High School library to discuss the future of the District Exchange -- the community organization that operates the exchange for clothing and small household goods as well as the food pantry. The Exchange is grateful for the use of the basement of the Ethel Bisbee School for many years through the generosity of SAD 44. With the decision to move the administrative offices out of the building, the Exchange needs to examine its purpose and mode of operation on a variety of fronts.
The meeting will be the first in probably a series of discussions about the Exchange and the Exchange committee hopes to see a good turnout of our volunteers, those who use the Exchange to recycle clothing, those who are
our customers, and those who support the Exchange with donations. We are interested in suggestions regarding space that might be available.
The Exchange operates under the Northern Oxford Health and Service Council, 501c3, a designation that allows us to maintain a relationship with the Good Shepherd Food Bank. We have a long-standing relationship with the town of Bethel as well. Kelly Osgood-Newkirk generously keeps our books.
Donations to the clothing exchange are used to purchase food, and the pantry is also the beneficiary of many drives and events such as Turkey Tuesday. We know our community is filled with generous people, and with creative minds.
Let's see what we can come up with!
If you are unable to attend please call Cathy at 875-2116, or e-mail at email@example.com. However we really hope to see you there. In case of a storm we will meet on Thursday, Feb. 3.
