As a candidate for Gilead selectman, I am strongly opposed to negative campaigning. Anyone who assists in my campaign is not to speak or write anything that would be in bad taste against anyone who may campaign against me. They are being told of the U.S. postal laws regarding mailboxes.
Also, I have informed the postal services that my campaign will observe the laws concerning the use of U.S. Mail with mailboxes. I have heard in other cities where people do this to get the opposing candidate in violation of the law.
In the last two town elections, certain people went knocking on doors who were backing a particular candidate and viciously verbally attacked their friend's opponent.
This type of behavior is not acceptable -- nor proper.
In closing, my campaign will be a clean campaign.
I will represent all residents of Gilead with the respect they deserve.
