Peter G. Baker

Peter G. Baker, 68, of Hanover, died April 7, 2010 at the Maine Medical Center in Portland.

He was born in Berlin, N.H., on April 28, 1941, the son of Mary Tripp and had been educated in local schools and graduated from Gould Academy in the Class of 1959 and had just recently attended his 50th class reunion.

Peter married Darlene Morrill on Dec. 14, 1963. During their 46 years of marriage he and Darlene were blessed with three children and two grandchildren.

Peter had worked at Chadbourne Tree Farms for 43 years retiring in 2009. He served in the U.S. Army from 1961 to 1963.

Peter was an outgoing man and loved to talk and especially loved to play solitaire. He would talk to anyone who would listen and even those who would not. He took great delight in watching his grandchildren’s activities.

He leaves behind his wife, Darlene of Hanover; a daughter and son-in-law, Jessica and Ron Brann of New Gloucester; daughter, Heather Baker of Salt Lake City ,Utah; and son, Dan Baker and his companion Erin Reed and her son Jacob all of Rumford; two grandchildren, Cody and Morgan Brann of New Gloucester; a sister, Suzanne Hayner of Newry; and his beloved dog, Laila. He was predeceased by his mother, Mary Tripp, on July 17, 2004.

Graveside services were held at the Hanover Cemetery in Hanover on Tuesday, April 13, with Rev. Sondra Withee officiating. Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.AndrewsGreenleaf.com.
