PLENTY TO DO THIS WEEKEND

There are many great “happenings” this weekend – some being older Bethel traditions and some relatively new! Lots for folks to do and enjoy – highlighting what makes living and visiting the Bethel area at the holidays unique! Please remember to Shop Local this holiday season – the area merchants not only provide jobs to local people but money spent in their businesses is recirculated into our local economy – a win, win for everyone!

This is an especially busy weekend for the Bethel Rotary Club! Saturday, they are hosting what is becoming a new tradition – the Annual Jingle Bell Run. Anyone who would like to participate is invited to meet at the Key Bank on Main Street between 3:30-3:45 p.m. to receive their bell(s) and tie them to shoelaces, mittens or zippers. The group will then, accompanied by a deputy from the Oxford County Sheriff's Department, jog/walk up to the Bethel Common together to be greeted by Mr. and Mrs. Santa. After having time to visit and distribute candy canes for a few minutes, Santa will light the trees on the Common for the coming holiday season.

Other events not to be missed this Saturday are the Greens Sale, Crafts, Cookie Walk, Food, 9:30-11:30 a.m., West Bethel Union Church; the Annual Christmas Tea and Fair, 1-4 p.m., West Parish Congregational Church – with a traditional tea, crafts, cookie walk, and more; free wagon rides through historic Bethel village, 1-3 p.m., sponsored by Doug Zinchuk Roofing; Christmas at the Mason House; and the Annual Christmas Tree Lighting at Bethel United Methodist Church, 6 p.m., Main Street.

All are invited to Rotary’s Country Breakfast at Gould Academy’s Dining Hall on Sunday, Dec. 2,from 7:30 to 11 a.m. – All you can eat for $8 per person. And join the fun at Santa Sunday at Sunday River Resort – to benefit the Rotary Club’s Christmas for Children effort!
