Midnite Haze

LOCAL BAND IN FINAL ROUND OF COMPETITION-Midnite Haze, a local teen band from Bethel, rocked its way into the final round of the Maine Academy of Modern Music/Rock Off competition April 11 in Portland. Band members Ryan Vail (lead guitar/vocals), David Pilgrim (bassist) and Devin Vail (drums) were the first band to perform. They competed against 15 other high school bands from across the state for top honors and a complete band package, including $1,000 in cash, recording studio time, free web site design, radio time and other prizes. The completition required each band to set up equipment, play original music and take dow ntheir gear in a 40-minute set. They were expected to play live on WGME Channel 13's Daybreak show at 6 a.m. this week. The band hopes for community and school support at the finals on May 1 at the Port City Music Hall at 2 p.m. Supporters can receive a $2 coupon off the admission price, which also helps the band with marketability scores.
