William 'Bill' Smith
William (Bill) M. Smith, 66, of Allen Road, Lovell, died Saturday, April 17, 2010, at his residence after a long illness.
He was born in Newton, Mass., the son of Norman and Isabel Jones Smith, and attended schools in Newton. He had previously owned and operated the Center Lovell General Store for 11 years and then was employed by the town of Lovell.
He was a member of the Maine State Firefighters Federation, member of Lovell Volunteer Fire Department, and he was a member of the Teamster Local 49. He enjoyed camping and fishing in the Rangeley area and also fishing Kezar Lake in Lovell. But most of all he enjoyed his membership in the Lovell Fire Department.
He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Sheila Smith of Lovell; one sister, Barbara Cole and husband Douglas of Philadelphia, Pa.; one son, Richard and his wife Karen of Lovell; two daughters, Christine Greer of Lisbon Falls and Christine Bolt and her husband Donald of California; grandchildren, Meaghen Greer, Kate Re and Dustin Re, Kimberly Brooke and Erica Bolt.
A funeral service was held Wednesday, April 21, at the Center Lovell Fire Department. Burial was in Center Lovell Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lovell Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 37, Center Lovell, ME 04016.
