MABEL A. KENNETT
Mabel A. (Pollard) Kennett, 82, of Water Street, Keene, N.H., a former longtime resident of Bethel, Maine, died Thursday, Nov. 25, 2010 at Bentley Commons in Keene.
She was born in Ware, Mass., Oct. 16, 1928, the daughter of Leroy H. and Helen I. (Dick) Pollard.
She grew up in New Braintree, Mass., attending local schools. She received a bachelor degree in elementary education from the Massachusetts State Teachers College in Worcester, Mass. Mrs. Kennett taught third grade and reading for 21 years in Bethel area schools.
She was an avid quilter, completing over 50 bed-sized quilts, and was a member of the Cross-Country Quilters of Bethel. She also enjoyed making braided rugs with her husband, hooking rugs, knitting, and sewing. She enjoyed genealogy and flower gardening. While residing in Bethel, she was active in the Bethel Historical Society.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Alden T. Kennett of Keene, and their three children: Ellen L. Fisher and her husband Burns of Brookline, N.H.; Amy S. Jenkins and her husband James of Charlestown, N.H., and Edward A. Kennett and his friend Robin Smith of Bethel. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren are Carolyn Fisher and her husband Thomas Seufert and their children, Geoffrey and Abigail, of Boston; Joanne Theriault and her husband Joseph of Manchester, N.H.; Beth Pijanowski and her husband John and their son Brian of Huntley, Ill.; Michael Jenkins of North Anson, Maine; Annah Kennett of Portland, Maine, and Caitlin Kennett of Maryland, N.Y. She had four siblings: Herbert Pollard (who died earlier this year) and his wife Mary Alice of Northport, Fla.; Harold Pollard and his wife Ellen of Prosperity, S.C.; Marion Lifter and her husband Richard of Franklin, N.C.; and David Pollard and his wife Mary Lou of Crossville, Tenn.
A memorial service and burial in the Evergreen Cemetery, New Braintree, Mass., will be held at a later date. There are no calling hours.
