Thelma 'Ted' Kenney
Thelma F. “Ted” Kenney, 98, of Mexico, died Saturday, Aug. 14, 2010 at the Ledgeview Living Center, West Paris, Maine.
She was born in Mexico, Maine , April 16, 1912 the daughter of Samuel and Bessie (Richardson) McCray and graduated from Mexico High School, Class of 1930.
She worked at Oxford Paper Company, Ethyl Corporation and Boise Cascade for over 38 years until retirement from the finishing room..
Thelma was a home person who loved sports, loved to read, going to garage sales, and for rides in the country. She was a special person and was loved and respected by all who knew her. She was a valued companion for her children and grandchildren, especially Dean and David Smith who took her on “toots” in the afternoon. She was married to James William “Bill” Kenney who predeceased her in 1954.
She is survived by three children, James Kenney and wife Evelyn of Upton, Sally Clark and husband Doug of Dixfield, and Joyce Smith and husband Alfred of Mexico; a sister in law, Rena McCray of Rumford; nieces, Louise McCray Zollo of Rumford and Jo-Hannah Richardson of Dixfield; 15 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; her special friends, Anne Dawson and Esther Rideout; and was predeceased by her parents; her husband; her brother, Lawrence “Tony” McCray; her sister, Barbara Zinck; two grandchildren, Kim Clark and Darren Smith; and a niece, Linda McCray Marr.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Aug. 20, at 11 a.m. 10 at the Meader & Son Funeral Home, 3 Franklin Street, Rumford, Maine, with the Rev. Jane Rich officiating. Friends are invited to calling hours 6-8 PM Thursday. Interment at Farrington-Morton Cemetery, Mexico, Maine.
