Bethel man arrested for criminal threatening with dangerous weapon
Posted June 28-A Bethel man was arrested at his Grover Hill home Sunday evening and charged with criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon.
Oxford County Sheriff‘s Department Deputy Mike Parshall said Monday that a female caller reported at about 8:30 p.m. Sunday that she had been threatened by her ex-boyfriend, Michael R. Piawlock, 56.
The two had traveled back to Maine from New Hampshire, Parshall said. They arrived at his residence, and as she departed, Piawlock reportedly threatened her with a rifle.
After the call to 911 was placed, Deputy Robert “Dennis” Ryder responded.
When he spoke with the caller, she said she could hear four shots fired from where she lived, not far from Piawlock’s residence.
At that point, said Parshall, he, OCSD Sgt. Tim Ontengco and Trooper Ron Turnick also responded.
Ryder contacted Piawlock and arranged to meet him at the end of his driveway.
During that encounter, said Parshall, four rifle shells could be seen on the edge of the driveway.
Ryder then had probable cause to arrest Piawlock for criminal threatening, a Class C felony, Parshall said.
Parshall said he did not know of any previous convictions for Piawlock.
