Telstar 7, Mt. Valley 6; May 15-Telstar’s Chris Chappie and Buddy Williamson led the team with 2 hits each. Buddy Williamson and Cole Davis split the duties on the mound and did a great job, but it was good base running and key hits that won the game. When the Rebels came to the plate in the bottom of the seventh inning they found themselves down 6-4. Chris Chappie led off with a single. Ricky James followed with another base hit. Zach Mills walked to load the bases up. Logan Bartlett then singled in a run and Buddy Williamson followed with another hit to drive in the tying run. It was now a tied game with 2 outs and bases loaded. On the second pitch to the next batter, Zach Mills stole home to win the game! The pitcher had been throwing from the wind up and I had been counting how long it was taking him to deliver a pitch. I told Zach that I thought he could make it if he got a good jump and he agreed, so I sent him home and it worked. I think we surprised them with the call to steal home. -Coach John Eliot
