The Hanover Select Board will meet on Tuesday, June 20, at the Town Office at 6 p.m.
The Planning Board met on Wednesday, June 7, and because of Independence Day the July meeting is scheduled for July 12.
The Gardner Roberts Memorial Library Annual Meeting is Wednesday, June 21, at the Hanover Town Office. There will be election of officers, business conducted and discussions about moving the library building and fundraising. All interested persons are invited to attend.
Coming soon will be a bottle drive to benefit the library-moving fund. Sara Moir will head up the activity.
Congratulations go to the area students that were graduated from high school this year. They include Nick Gross, Erica Dyer, Aaron Arsenault, Erin Forbes and Sarah Daye.
Former Hanover summer resident William Bartlett passed away on June 1, in Alabama. His wife, Edith, had predeceased him in 2004. We send sympathy to his family.
We also extend sympathy to Gail Parent and her family upon the passing of Gail?s brother, Burton Crossland.
Estella Glover, who formerly lived on Ellis River Road, passed away at the age of 89. Her son, John Howe, passed away in May. We send sympathy to their families.
Former Rumford Center resident June Grace passed away last Thursday in Lewiston. Again we extend sympathies to the family.
Has the marauding bear returned? This time the bear was caught in the act as he made a daytime raid on Joan Everett?s birdfeeders. Joan says that she takes her feeders in at night and she did not suspect a daytime attack.
Rains continued during most of the past week with washout-damaging downpours occurring over the weekend. Several power failures shut off the electricity in much of Hanover last week. Some were momentary but others lasted several hours.
Jim Ray and his grandson, Chris Ray, have completed their stay at the Triple J and they are driving to Austin, Texas.
Moose sightings along Main Street have been prevalent recently. |
