Hello Andover Friends. I have seen quite a few turkeys around the past few weeks; isn't it time to shoot them? They are such a nuisance. I really don't want to hit one with my car, but have come awfully close. I came around the corner by flat-rocks one night last week and there were five raccoons scurrying out of my way. What I haven't seen are any deer -- just their tracks in the morning when I walk.
A reminder that next Thursday, Nov. 25, is Thanksgiving. The Andover Library and the Town Office will both be closed on that day.
Congratulations to former Andover resident Samantha (Ladd) and her husband Bill Purcell, on the birth of their baby, Brooke Elizabeth. She was born on Sept. 9 in Indiana. Proud grandmother is Elizabeth Ladd of Andover, great-grandmother Carol Morton of Andover, and Joyce and Arthur Ladd of Rumford Point. Brooke also has an aunt and uncle in Augusta, Ashley and John Kensell. Out-of-state grandparents are Bill Sr. and Glenda Purcell and great-grandparents Jan and Don Purcell, all of Portgage, Ind.
Good luck on Saturday to the Mountain Valley High School football team, as they enter the State Class B title game. They'll play Leavitt at Fitzpatrick Stadium in Portland at 11:06 a.m. Many families from town will be traveling down to support their kids, grandkids, cousins, etc!
Celebrating a birthday this week are Taran Vitale on the 19th, Alan Chenery on the 22nd, and Kaylin Milligan on the 26th.
Enjoy the weekend.
