Gardner Roberts Memorial Library has announced winter hours. On Wednesday the Library will be open 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. Until further notice it will also be open on Saturday from 9 a.m. until noon. The 50/50 raffle is still providing tickets from the library, the Hanover Town Office or from library officials. The drawing will be Election Day during the evening.
New books at the Library include Warrior: Super Edition (Erin Hunter); Mercy Watson: Something Wonky Comes This Way (Kay DiCarmillo); Pilgrims, Stern Men and Committed (Elizabeth Gilbert); Cold Company, The Tooth of Time, Death Trap, and Serpents Tail (Sue Henry); Divided in Death, Creation in Death and Origin in Death (J.D. Robb); House of Rules (Jodi Picoult); Sarah (Delores Levesques – Rumford, Maine); Safe Haven (Nicholas Sparks); Little Bea (Chris Cleave) and Face to Face (Karleen Koen).
Rumford Grange 115 received fourth-place ribbons for their Agricultural and Domestic displays at Fryeburg Fair. Upcoming events for Rumford Grange include a Halloween Party at the Rumford Center Grange Hall on Sunday, Oct. 31, from 5:30 until 7 p.m. Youngsters in Halloween dress will be treated with candy and other items. There will be a drawing for those attending to receive a gift certificate.
The Rumford Grange will be hosting a yard and food sale on Nov. 13, 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. There are tables available for local crafters. Call Vicki at 364-2129 for more information. A light lunch including corn chowder, hot dogs and hamburgers will be available to eat in or to go. Tickets are available for a variety of items from local businesses to raise funds for Community Service. Tickets are available at ANA Variety, The House of Beauty and the Hanover Town Office. The winners will be selected Nov. 13. In the past, Community Service has helped fund cemetery projects, the Halloween Party and donations to hospitals and nursing homes.
Our local Boy Scout troop got interested in Geocaching, finding a hidden treasure using coordinates found on the Internet. With the best of intention the boys located their treasure and headed out to find it. Imagine the disappointed fellows when they found their treasure had been stolen before they got there.
Be sure to wash your car and keep it nice and shiny for it is against the law to drive a dirty car. Just ask Kelly at the Town Office.
