The Gardner Roberts Memorial Library has changed over to winter hours. It will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each Wednesday and includes the after-school children’s program. Please notice that the library will be closed from Nov. 19 to Dec. 8 so that Librarian Peg Susbury and her husband Bob may enjoy a vacation trip to visit their daughter.
The Rumford Grange 115 Craft and Bake Sale will be Saturday, Nov. 13, at the Rumford Center Grange Hall. For crafters -- there are still tables available for rent. Contact Vicki at 364-2129 if interested. A light lunch will be served and will include corn chowder. Drawings will take place for the Grange quilt and other donated prizes. Tickets will be available at the Saturday sale. The event starts at 9 a.m. and ends at 2 p.m.
After the Rumford Grange sale ends the Grange Hall will be closed for the winter. That does not mean the Good Grangers are going to sit around doing nothing. Meetings and other activities will continue at the home of Arnold and Vicki Clark of Ellis River Road in Rumford Point.
The Hanover Board of Selectpersons will meet Tuesday, Nov. 16, at the Hanover Town Office. The Planning Board met Nov. 3 where they received updates from Code Enforcement Officer John Gauthier.
The Nov. 2 General Election went smoothly in Hanover with 77 percent of registered voters casting ballots. The able crew of election clerks including Paul Ramsey, Donna Worcester, Gordon Howe and Herb Adams along with Warden Clem Worcester and Election Clerk Kelly Harrington had completed the tallies and made their reports by 10:30 p.m.
Get well wishes go to Marie Morrison. She has been sick for a while with an especially difficult illness.
Bill Worcester and two of his sons, Daren and Mike, got up early last Saturday and headed out to a far away hill to hunt. After reaching their destination Bill saw a deer, got off a shot, and the deer went over the hill unharmed. A short time later Mike and Daren successfully shot a deer. Mike dragged out a 225-pound, 13-point buck. Daren’s 8-point buck weighed in at 180 pounds.
