One day last week my tractor had a flat tire, so I just took one chainsaw to clear some brush out of one of my twitch roads while waiting for my tire repair. It was a cool, but not too cold day, but the front of both pants legs felt cold just above the knees. Strange. Must be a breeze coming up the pants legs because I don’t have long underwear on. Then while sawing on a dead tree, I noticed that the chainsaw gas tank cover was hanging by the chain! Then I could smell the gas on the pants. Good thing I don’t smoke!
The West Bethel Union Church had its annual children’s Christmas pageant during the “Children’s Moment.” It went very well with Joseph, Mary, the baby Jesus, a couple angels and some shepherds in their places on the altar. Lydia Grover read from the scriptures while the children assumed their places. It was a very nice typical pageant up to the point where Lydia read about the angel telling the shepherds in the fields about the miracle in the manger. Right on cue, as Lydia read, “ … and the shepherds fell on their knees because they were so afraid … ” little 2-year-old Brandon Michael Hopper stepped back and fell off the first step of the altar and landed on his back -- unhurt! The entire congregation was heard stifling snickers and guffaws!
