Happy Fall! I hope that you have had a chance to soak up some sun lately rather than just rain. We have had some really wet and windy days this past week. Fortunately for us they have been balanced with bright and beautiful days in between. The reds, oranges and yellows are still hanging in there but as you drive up the valley it's easy to see that their days are numbered. Perhaps you have free time this weekend and can get out of the house for a fall foliage ride. We have always enjoyed taking the kids up and around the "Height of the Land" through Rangeley and back down. It's a nice ride before the treachery of winter sets in.
Laura Lowell and her riding partner, Jane Clukey, attended the Ellis River Riders horse show in Andover last weekend. Laura, riding 23-year-old Dakota and Jane riding her horse, Bleu, placed Champion of the Day in the pairs class. What a good way to end the season. Congrats to Laura and Dakota, Jane and Bleu!
This Saturday the Newry Grange will be full of local talent. Area crafters and artists will have their wares on display. This event is open to the public with refreshments available. Expect a little of everything -- knitting, quilting, jewelry, baked goods, handmade wooden furniture and garden trellises, toys for pets, felted purses, paintings and more. The Craft Fair will rum from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m,. this Saturday; get a jump start on your Holiday shopping.
Just a short reminder that Election Day is nearly here and we here in Newry are hoping for strong voter turnout. So do your homework early and dig in past the negative (campaigning) to determine who best suits your opinions and show them your support by voting on Nov. 2.
Feel free to contact me at email@example.com with your Newry news.
P.S. An update to those of you who knew or aided me in my attempt to save the red-tailed hawk -- alas, she did not make it. The damage to her wing was too substantial none the less, but I thank you for your help.
