The Upton Ladies Aid Association has scheduled a "Harvest Supper" for Saturday, Oct. 19. The supper will begin a 5 p.m. It will feature a boiled dinner meal with all the fixings. The Ladies will charge $7 per adult and $4 per child.
The Planning Board will meet Friday, Oct. 25.
The Upton Selectmen met Friday. They had a quiet meeting. The minutes from their September meeting were read and accepted. They reviewed and signed the warrants. The selectmen and some residents discussed potential repairs to the Mill Road bridge that crosses the Cambridge River.
It was driver’s license renewal time for me last week. Penny and I decided to make a day of it. Shopping and eating out and enjoying some leisure time together. I went to the Lewiston division of B.M.V. with my birth certificate and all the other necessary paper work in hand, expecting the usual runaround and hassles. I was pleasantly surprised. The woman that took my paperwork and information was professional, pleasant and helpful. It took less than 15 minutes from the time I made it to the counter until leaving the building, including having a photo taken. Thank you, Mrs. B.M.V. lady, for your courtesy and professionalism.
Penny is already weary of hunters. They drive by the house like they own the place, park anywhere they desire in the field and shoot too close to the house. Not one hunter has stopped to ask permission or to say thanks. Moose season starts Monday so it will probably get worse. I am seriously considering posting "Hunting by Permission Only" signs.
