If you don't feel like drinking coffee at home on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday mornings from 8 to 10, go enjoy coffee and socializing at the Upton House. Go through the office door into the Grapevine room and enjoy! Bob and Charlotte will serve donated food from local cooks and will accept donations simply to cover replenishment. And, on Sunday mornings, you can drink coffee and have breakfast at the Ladies Aid Building. That leaves just Monday, Friday and Saturday that you'll have to fend for yourselves!
Have you been in the newly renovated Upton House? It is absolutely elegant and spectacular. Each of the rooms is "fit for a king." However, kings and queens dressed in snowmobile outfits, or those who've been hiking or 4-wheeling or hunting are just as welcomed by Bob and Charlotte as those who wear their robes, crowns, and jewels.
Hunter's buffet breakfast will be on Saturday morning, Nov. 6.
The wind is howling like crazy today. Sounds like a nor'easter, but it's relatively warm out and the sun is shining.
Joe and Penny have had bears eating their apples, quite close to their house, actually. We've seen signs of them in South Upton, but haven't actually seen any in the yard -- probably because we don't have any fruit trees to attract them.
Did you know that Maine received its name in 1639? Supposedly it was named for the province of Maine in France. However, some histories believe the name was given because it was customary to refer to it as the "main" or "mainland" in distinction from the many islands.
I enjoyed a visit from Malcolm and Barbara Gross of Hanover the other day.
