Regretfully, I must report that the Sunday breakfasts at the Ladies Aid Building have been cancelled until further notice. Jobs, vacations, family commitments, and other projects, which normally increase in the summertime, leave the skeleton list of volunteers unable to continue offering this service to the community.
Bobby Thompson and Ryan Armstrong (who jokingly claims to be related to Neil) of Hampton, N.H., spent a few days at Bobby’s camp on Back Street.
When new people are elected or nominated to town positions, and different people become chairpersons of any boards, and persons resign from any of those positions, it often takes quite a while for mail to find its way to the proper person or committee. Therefore, selectmen have voted to purchase a mailbox to be installed at the Town Office for all of the town positions and boards. I’ll let you know what the box number will be.
At the Town Meeting on June 6, beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the school, voters will be voting on school issues as well as several other articles. Assessing will begin next week in an attempt to get the tax bills out in a timely manner. Several holes on East B Hill have been patched and new cul-verts have been installed on Back Street. Ditching on Mill Hill will be starting soon.
Brother Lou and SBL Ellen Bernier of North Waterford enjoyed the debut of their beautiful new 5th wheel at Brother Joe’s home over the weekend.
Congratulations to Eric Burnette and Jennie Bernier, both of Naples, on their engagement! They’re enjoying this phase of their lives while deciding on a date for their wedding.
The Ladies Aid meetings have been changed to Wednesdays at 10 a.m. Members are working diligently on a quilt to be raffled on Upton Fun Day/Sesquicentennial celebration on Aug. 21.
On Sunday we enjoyed a BBQ at Steve and Deb Furlong’s home in Standish, which was held in honor of their daughters, Elise and Andrea, and Ben French, our son, who all graduated from college in early May.
It was enjoyable to hear, throughout Memorial Weekend, many songs and attributes to our veterans and our servicemen and women who are dedicated to protecting and serving our country’s freedoms and safety. Thank you, all who have served and all who currently serve in our Armed Forces.
Hope you all have a wonderful week. Selah
